A native of Czechoslovakia who entered Prague’s Charles University weeks before the political change of 1989, Martin Králik used the new-found freedom to pursue his passion for Asia, travel and foreign languages.
In 1996 he graduated with an M.A. in Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, having also completed academic and language training programmes at Beijing Language Institute, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Bard College (USA).
In the past 12 years, he has worked with research and consulting companies across Greater China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. He currently heads a research unit of a top-tier global business school’s recently established centre for research and executive education in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
Fluent in eight languages including Mandarin, Malay and Russian, and a proficient classical Chinese reader/writer, he divides his time between Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
